Reality TV, and other undying plagues.

I could not be more sick of watching reality television. I feel like all we ever see on these shows is the negative aspects of our culture, it’s almost as if they take the worst possible role models that they can find, and put them on a risque show, on a network that appeals almost entirely to teen and adolescent audiences.  How often do you hear about one of these reality TV show stars doing something positive? Answer: never. Instead, the viewers of networks like MTV and VH1 get to watch the cast of Jersey Shore be incredibly self absorbed, promiscuous, arrogant, poor decision makers. That’s exactly what I want my 15 year old brother to act like, right? WRONG.  What’s worse is the people who complain about how senseless and ridiculous these shows are, yet they tune in every week to see what happens next. News Flash folks, if you stop watching these shows, THEY WILL STOP MAKING THEM.  Maybe MTV should try airing, I don’t know… MUSIC, but that’s a whole different blog. I know that I, along with many of my friends, have been praying for the demise of the reality television fad since it’s inception with shows like “The Real World,” and “Survivor”.  Seriously though, what part of being trapped on a desert island with 19 other insanely good looking people, who are also polar opposites of you in terms of personality is reality anyway?
